31 Pieces of Advice to Celebrate My 31st Birthday

Hey, friends! Happy Friday the 13th -muahaha! I hope you’re all having the opposite of a scary, horrible day. 😉

As many of you know, I turned 31 on Tuesday. While I’m honored that a few Instagram followers thought I was in my early 20’s (+10 brownie points for all of you, lol), I’m feeling really good about my age and where I’m at in my life. Don’t get my wrong, I THOROUGHLY enjoyed my 20’s. But my 30’s have actually brought me so much more confidence and clarity – both personally and professionally. I feel like I know myself and what I want better than ever before. So to celebrate my 31 years of life I wanted to close out the week with 31 pieces of advice for all of you. These are tidbits I’ve learned through my own personal experiences. Feel free to print them out, highlight your favorites, and/or add your own thoughts in the comments. I hope that at least one of my points resonates with you.

Love you guys, and thank you so much for your continued support! Xx, Meach

  1. Always remember that pain is temporary.
  2. If you want to be happy, just be happy. It’s a mindset, not a destination.
  3. If you don’t know what you want or where you’re going, just keep going. The fog will eventually clear.
  4. Don’t be in such a rush.
  5. Figuring out what you don’t like is just as important as figuring out what you do.
  6. Start over as many times as you want.
  7. Define you own success.
  8. You don’t have to explain yourself.
  9. If there’s something you want, just start working for it. You truly won’t know what could be until you try.
  10. You’ll never know everything, but try to learn as much as you can. Knowledge is power.
  11. Don’t forget to have fun.
  12. Choose experiences, not things.
  13. Unless it’s life or death, there’s really no reason to stress.
  14. It’s okay to say no.
  15. Be open to conversations that make you feel completely uncomfortable.
  16. Treat your body like you plan on having it around for a while.
  17. Make travel a priority.
  18. Don’t take yourself too seriously.
  19. Be empathetic. The only personal struggles you’re truly aware of are your own.
  20. Seek input from people who are completely different than you. A fresh perspective could make a world of difference.
  21. Follow the news. It might be “depressing”, but you’ll gain more from awareness than avoidance.
  22. You’re not supposed to be happy all the time. Nobody is.
  23. Understand that you’re never going to be perfect, and love yourself anyways.
  24. You can’t force things. What’s meant to be will be.
  25. Take responsibility for your own actions.
  26. The key to financial success is not necessarily making more money, it’s being aware of how you spend the money you make.
  27. If you’re not actively trying to help yourself, you have no business feeling bad for yourself.
  28. Just be nice.
  29. Listen to your gut.
  30. Be the change you wish to see in the world.
  31. Never let fear paralyze you.
