My friends with big(ger) feet always say that I’m “lucky” to have such a small ones. They claim that the best shoes, especially those that are on sale, are always in my size. Having worn a women’s 5.5 for the majority of my life, though, I beg to differ. From my experience, all the stylish heels and sneakers for women with small feet sell out well before any price reductions go into effect. Luckily, I’ve found a bit of a work around: BIG KID SHOES. Well, at least big kid sneakers. If you’re a woman with a shoe size 8.5 or below, you’re going to want to keep reading.
Big kid shoes tend to come in very similar, if not identical, styles to adult shoes. The only real difference is the sizing. As a general rule of thumb, when you order big kids’ shoes you should take your women’s shoe size and subtract 1.5-2 sizes. So with me being a size 5.5 in women’s, I’m typically able to rock big kid sizes 3.5-4. This can obviously vary by brand (I’ve found most Adidas shoes to run big in general). But since big kid sizes go up to a 7, they can actually accommodate up to a women’s size 8.5. That means more options for everyone, but especially my fellow women with small feet! OH, and did I mention that the kids’ options are typically cheaper, too? YASSSS! 😉
I know it might feel weird the first few times you shop the big kid’s section, but shoes for women with small feet are hard to come by, so do what you gotta do! You can always hide behind your computer and order online, which is usually what I do, haha. To get you started, I’ve rounded up some of my favorite big kid sneakers on the market right now. Scroll down to view and shop all 9 styles, the Nike Air Huarache running shoes I’m wearing in the pictures above included. If you follow me on Instagram, these are the ones I recently featured in my story that you all went wild for!!
